The Tyrolean Pletzer Group – for a long time mainly in real estate-. Industrial sector active – has acquired a taste for tourism. There, the now 71-year-old company founder and CEO Anton Pletzer has held a stake in the Lanserhof Group (Lanserhof Lans near Innsbruck and Tegernsee as well as LANS Medicum Hamburg) for almost two decades. Finally, 2006 saw the start of the development of the company's own hotel track.

Anton Pletzer had already been close to the tourism industry before: between 1972 and 2004 he was chairman of the TVB Hohe Salve, and since 2000 he has been managing director of the company in which he holds a majority stake. Belonging to his private foundation Bergbahnen Hohe Salve Hopfgarten-Itter-Kelchsau.

Pletzer laid the foundation for his own hotel empire about ten years ago in Hopfgarten, when he acquired the 3-star Sporthotel Fuchs (50 rooms). It is located right next to the valley station of the cable cars Hohe Salve SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental. A year later followed the 4-star Familotel (48 rooms), also in Hopfgarten.

The next step in expansion came in 2009 with the construction of the 4-star Seepark Hotel in Klagenfurt (142 rooms), the group's current flagship, which has been operated under its own management for the past three years. Finally, in the previous year, the bankrupt Hotel Schick at Walchsee – once one of the flagship establishments of the Tyrolean hotel industry – was acquired and will reopen next summer after major renovation works.

Now followed by two more new buildings. One, the future Familotel Bayrischzell (opening 2018), is located beyond the borders in the alpine region Tegernsee – Schliersee. There, the Pletzer Group already holds a 24.5 percent stake in the Sudelfeld mountain railroads. 15 million will be invested in the 240-bed hotel. Euro invested.

A little more, namely 18 million. Euro, are budgeted for the second new building of the Pletzer Group, which is being built in Hopfgarten. Work has recently begun on the Sports Hotel, a 220-bed property with spa facilities and two pools (one of which is 25 meters long). The existing Sporthotel Fuchs was integrated into the facility, which was built on the Bergbahn parking garage. Thus, the previous sports hotel will in the future be part of the resort, which was designed as a 4-star all-year hotel. "We have set ourselves a tight schedule," emphasizes managing director Manfred Pletzer, who has set the opening date of 23. December this year calls.

In total, the new sports resort will employ about 80 people, most of them year-round. That's why an employee house is being built three minutes away from the hotel, including a company kindergarten: "That makes us the only ones in Tyrol," says Manfred Pletzer. The group – it will have in two years a capacity of 1.000 hotel beds have – shows thereby also off dry key figures format.
