Hilly landscapes, olive groves and wine-growing areas characterize the Italian region of Tuscany, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. The area, which stretches from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Apennines, also owes its popularity to its cultural richness. A total of seven Tuscan sites, for example, are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Fine sandy beaches, vine-covered hills and mountain villages

On the Tuscan coast, fine sandy beaches alternate with rugged cliffs, while inland, winding roads take you past vine-covered hills to mountain villages and major cities such as Florence and Siena. The Tuscan archipelago includes the seven main islands of Elba, Capraia, Giglio, Giannutri, Gorgona, Montecristo and Pianosa, which can be reached by boat from the mainland. The bathing season starts already in April with temperatures around 19 degrees. Spring is best for sightseeing tours, as it can get hot in the summer months. If you want to have a flexible vacation and explore the region on your own, you will find the possibility to do so at Camping Toskana. Whether you travel alone, as a couple, with friends or with the whole family, a camping vacation can be a relaxing experience. In addition, many campsites in Tuscany are located near the sea, have swimming pools, sports facilities and offer varied entertainment programs for children and adults.

Camping with dogs is also possible in Italy, but care should be taken when planning a trip to ensure that pets are allowed. Dog-friendly campsites should also offer the opportunity for extended walks with the four-legged friend. It is important to inform yourself before departure not only about the equipment, but also about the rules that apply at the campsite. Wild camping is generally not allowed in Italy.

Relaxed vacations on the Tuscan coast

The Tuscan coast is about 300 kilometers long, so a suitable campsite can be found near the beach or a little further away in a quiet area. A Tuscany camping vacation is the best opportunity to discover excursion destinations such as the cities of Florence, Siena and Pisa. The large city of Florence, known for its numerous architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance, is also the capital of the Italian region of Tuscany. Among the most important sights to see in Florence is the Ponte Vecchio bridge, which is one of the landmarks of the Tuscan capital and also one of the most famous bridges in the world. The Palazzo Vecchio, nowadays the seat of the city hall, as well as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Galleria degli Uffizi, where the most famous collection of works of the Renaissance can be seen, are worth seeing. Mostly the own car or the motor home is used for the journey to the camping vacation. To ensure that the trip by car goes smoothly and without breakdowns, the vehicle should be thoroughly checked beforehand. When stowing luggage and camping equipment, make sure that the trunk is not too full.

To save unnecessary costs for expensive food on the road, food and drinks can be taken from home and kept fresh in a cool box. Tuscany is a year-round tourist destination. In the mountainous regions you can even practice winter sports in winter. Between October and March, the olive harvest takes place in the region. Boat trips to the Tuscan islands are usually carried out between spring and late fall.
