Schonach& LeisureIf you decide to come to the vacation home Beyermann, then you will stay in the ski village Nr. 1 – the beautiful Schonach. You have many opportunities for sports activities here in winter. For example, you can go downhill skiing, snowboarding or sledding with the dear little ones at the Winterberg ski lift. The best part is that this ski lift is right across the street from Ferienhaus Beyermann. Just outside the town center, on the Rohardsberg, there is another larger ski lift that can be used with the same card. You can also explore the winter wonderland of Schonach on skis on the large cross-country ski trail. In addition, you can admire a large ski jump in Schonach, where every year the Black Forest Cup takes place.
But of course it is beautiful in Schonach also in the summer time. It is a perfect place for hiking. Although you can also explore Schonach on your own, we recommend that you use the many signposted hiking trails. For example, the Westweg runs through Schonach, a popular trail for all hikers. In the middle of the Schonach forest there is also a nature discovery trail. Perfect for kids, teens and the young at heart. Discover the forest with all its fascinations. Also very recommendable is the unique in Germany Schalensteinweg. During this hike you will see stones with depressions that have mysteriously come in there.
In the heart of Schonach there is a large spa park. There you will find a children's playground and a large pond with ducks and two swans. There is also a miniature golf course with 18 holes. Right next door is an outdoor chess with large figures and a foosball table. Behind the miniature golf course is a Kneipp treading pool that is freely accessible to everyone. In winter you can skate on the outdoor ice rink with your own skates.
The absolute highlight of your stay in Schonach will certainly be a visit to the world's first cuckoo clock. The owner and builder Josef Dold is happy about everyone who wants to see his cuckoo clock from inside and outside. Inside this Black Forest cottage is a huge original cuckoo clock movement, made of wood by hand, 1×3,50×3,30m. In addition, every hour looks a ca. 50 cm tall cuckoo from the clock.
If you want to learn more about the traditions in Schonach, you can not only admire beautiful traditional costumes, furniture and memories of the good old days in the "Heimatstube" in Schonach. Here you will also find the famous Christmas crib built by Meinrad Spath, whose value is estimated by experts to be close to 500.000 Euro is estimated.
In Schonach you also have the opportunity to pursue various sporting activities. The village has a tennis court. Directly next door you can take riding lessons at the Beständerhof. There is also a halfpipe for skateboarders and inline skaters nearby. All these installations are located about five minutes walk from our house. Ten minutes walk to the natural swimming pool with two slides, a diving board and a children's playground. For the soccer players among you, there is a sports field with two steel gates at the school which is freely accessible to everyone.
