Kidsforkids day" in Brechen has for one afternoon displaced everything that world politics is currently reporting and made us forget the privations of the last years.
On the schoolyard of the school in the Emsbachtal some primary school teachers around Anne-Kristin Weber and Benjamin Borsch as well as Anna Krmek from the secondary school and parents around the father Thomas Schmitt from the class 1a in cooperation with the municipality and the school social worker Madlen Wagner had a vision, to forget everything for one day, just to be a child and so the first "KidsforKids-Day" was created.
With the best weather, colorfully decorated tables with sweets and glass diamonds on them, as well as a large stage, children big and small came from all over to greet being a child together as well as all Ukrainian host families of the municipality and surroundings and to laugh together.
The motto of organizer Schmitt: All children should laugh, be enchanted, jump, eat ice cream, sing and win prizes at the raffle, this was also kept up from the beginning to the end of the event.
Help for
Thistle's projects
The unplugged band MUG with singer Daniel Schimidt, guitarist Lars Stich and Thilo Schwarz on the cajón started the show. They played everything from join-in songs to the Ärzte, their repertoire ranges from the 60s to today's songs. MUG did not pay any fees and accompanied the festival in their very personal, relaxed and human way. Daniel Schimidt, singer of the band, also helped to set up and transport the stage elements and bar tables. And many companies supported the festival also for free.
Because the "KidsforKids had a social purpose with all the letting go, all proceeds of the day will go to the Summerfield Foundation of Matthias Distel. The Foundation supports a variety of social projects that aim to increase equal opportunities for children.
Since this has also been the goal of the school in the Emsbachtal and the school social work of the municipality of Brechen for many years, the organization team in front with Thomas Schmitt wanted to support this local foundation of Distel. Massimo, supporter and employee of the Foundation, reported on the Foundation's projects, such as the current accommodation of 900 Ukrainian war refugees.
Performance by
Linnea May
The highlight of the event was the performance of Linnea May "Dein Song Finalistin 2022", with their song "Our Story. Linnea says about it: "Often we have to go through difficult times to become stronger. But all these experiences shape our lives and our history." Linnea May also waived her fee and also signed many autographs of the new little fans.
Lena Schmidt, student of class 5, who helped out at the waffle stand all day, even got an autograph on her cell phone case and was visibly happy. Linnea May was also the lucky fairy who drew the first four prizes in the raffle, which was organized by Nicole Hanauer-Friedrich (UBUS specialist). The main prize was won by Paul Rings from class 1a in Niederbrechen. Two tickets for "Celebrities Kick for Kids on the main stand at Schalke in Gelsenkirchen. Paul could hardly believe his luck.
But especially the event program made the community of Brechen shake, because the magician Hans-Jörg Seibert alias Batek had conjured up such a child-friendly program out of the hat that the children almost fell off the benches laughing. For which gentleman with hat farted. The balloon became smaller and smaller?" That's right, it was the principal and all the children curled up in laughter.
Mayor Frank Groos then sang together with children and parents the song: "Kinder an die Macht" and after his words of welcome he also handed over a donation from the community of Brechen to the Summerfield Kids Foundation. School social worker Malen Wagner praised his commitment regarding the reconstruction of a residential house for Ukrainian refugees as well as the involvement of many Brecher associations, which Frank Groos asked for help.
Principal and host of "KidsforKids Day Bernd T. Steioff, in his greeting, spoke of taking time for children, of giving love, of expressing appreciation, of being an example. Steioff, who stands for the social commitment in the district, who always stands behind the weaker students and students with behavioral problems and always gives them chances, can himself fall back on many personal experiences regarding school failure and these enable him to sympathize with desperate parents and abandoned children.
Many tricks from Kerstin and Stefan
The "KidsforKids Day The event was also characterized by movement through many sports games, slackline and a vehicle course. Here many, many children romped on the red place of the municipality Brechen, in order to be accompanied then by the sport specialists Kerstin Janoszka and Stefan Eichhorn and to be taught some tricks. These two have been dependable for years when it comes to supporting the well-being of children, Weber says.
