Samsung Galaxy S5 mini test features
The "small" one Giant: Features + functions of the Galaxy S5 mini
Everything is a bit "smaller" in the little brother of the Samsung Galaxy S5 The Galaxy S5 mini is not very powerful, but it is equipped with a strong quad-core processor and can also be used in the modern LTE network with data rates of up to 150 Mbps. Furthermore, the smartphone can also be used as a navigation system; besides GPS, NFC and Bluetooth 4 are also supported.0 supported.
Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini has a fingerprint sensor, which is directly integrated into the home button. This can be used to protect the cell phone from unwelcome visitors, but much more exciting is the ability to authorize payments with your own fingerprint. This is possible in Germany via PayPal, for example.

Turn 2 into 4: More power for the S5 mini
At least in terms of the processor, the S5 mini is much more powerful than its predecessor, the S4 mini, because there are now four cores instead of two, each with a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz. As benchmark tests show, the mini is worlds behind the big S5 with its powerful 2.5 GHz quad-core processor. But compared to other mid-range phones, the S5 mini holds its own very well and cuts a more than decent figure.
Samsung has added a total of 1.5 GB of RAM, which, in conjunction with the quad-core processor, provides sufficient resources for more computationally intensive applications.
Furthermore, the S5 mini operates, for example, in its own WLAN network in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency ranges. Thus, a less busy connection is practically always available, which ensures high data transfer rates. However, these are not quite as fast as in other smartphones, because the latest WLAN ac standard is unfortunately not supported. However, this is not tragic insofar as many of the routers available in private households also do not yet transmit via the ac standard.
The situation is completely different when it comes to the Internet connection in the mobile network. Just like LTE, the maximum connection rates offered in Germany of 42.2 or more are not available via UMTS. 150 Mbit/s possible. Still on board are NFC, GPS, USB 2, and more.0 and Bluetooth 4.0 many useful companions for all modern ways of communication.
Fingerprint sensor and heart rate monitor
When the Samsung Galaxy S5 was presented to the public, the Koreans were especially proud of the fingerprint sensor and the heart rate monitor. Particularly pleasing: Both features were also built into the S5 min. Thus, the small S5 also becomes a mobile fitness device, because the measured pulse can be transmitted directly to the S Health app and evaluated there. The fingerprint sensor is extremely future-proof: on the one hand, it makes it possible to pay by fingerprint, and on the other hand, remembering complicated passwords is a thing of the past, because, for example, the smartphone can be locked with the user's own fingerprint, so that no unauthorized access to the device is possible.
2.100 mAh battery convinces in practical tests
One conclusion of the S5 mini battery test is certainly that it is important not to judge too quickly when it comes to performance. Because at first the battery of the cell phone went down insanely fast. But this phenomenon, which can be seen with many batteries, disappeared after the first charging processes. The S5 mini even outperformed the already very good S4 mini in terms of battery life.
The longer battery life of the S5 mini cannot be attributed to the new Android 4.4 operating system, because the update to the new Android version was installed on the comparison device S4 mini before the test. However, a significant share is of course accounted for by the 2.100 mAh now by 200 mAh stronger battery of Galaxy S5 mini.
Of course, the S5 mini also has a power-saving mode that caps the maximum processor performance and thus saves grains for much longer availability. The back button, for example, is not illuminated when the standby mode is enabled, which took some getting used to, at least at first. But Samsung even goes one step further with the S5 mini's ultra energy-saving mode. Banned there for example all colors from the screen. In return, the smartphone lasts for more than 11 days in standby mode.
