Epa confirms lucid air will get 520 miles free of charge

Lucidhasn't sold a single car yet, but it has a uniquely impressive statistic: It'sLucid Air Dream Edition RangeWill go 520 miles on a charge, the company claims. According to Lucid, the EPA yesterday awarded the rating to its top mileage model, adding that it is the longest number ever awarded by the federal agency, more than 100 miles further than its closest competitor.

"The Dream Edition Range is one of two different versions of the Lucid Air Dream Edition and embodies Lucid's high focus on maximizing efficiency. It gets 520 miles of range and still delivers 933 horsepower", the company said in a statement. "It is located next to the 1.111-horsepower Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance and Grand Touring versions, which have now also received their official EPA range ratings."

A look at the EPA websiteFueleconomy.Govhas yet to list any Lucid models.

Lucid reached the 520-mile figure with its own high-performance motors, technology and battery designs. Lucid CEO. CTO.Peter Rawlinson.Peter Rawlinson.

To be honest, the Lucid battery pack is 113 kWh, while the Tesla, the closest competitor, is up at 100 kWh.So Lucid has an oversized battery pack installed, depending on your definition of oversized.Remember whenoohing and ahhingat Lucid News.Still, after seeing the Lucid drive and talking at length with Mr. Rawlinson talked about, there's a lot of impressive proprietary technology in the Lucids.

"Our race-proven 900V battery and BMS technology, our miniaturized drive units, coupled with our wonder box technology, give Lucid Air extremely high efficiency, allowing it to travel more miles from less battery power," said Rawlinson."The next generation EV has truly arrived!"

Lucid also points out what it called an independent range test it did with another car magazine whose name escapes us, wherein Rawlinson and another car writer drove two Lucids from LA to San Francisco and got over 500-mile range from both on that real-world drive.(I look forward to checking out these numbers myself one day.)

The Dream Edition Range that got those great numbers is just one of three Airs to hit the market.Lucid says the EPA has also published range numbers for the other models.
