A dream for motorcycle enthusiasts

It's 200 parts to the finish line: FRANZIS Verlag has presented a transparent. High-quality functional model of the BMW R 90 S boxer engine developed. The true-to-original model kit of the historic motorcycle engine on a scale of 1:2 is a real highlight for BMW fans and classic car enthusiasts.

After about three hours of assembly (all parts can be easily plugged and screwed together – without any glue at all), the finished model delights not only with its high-quality appearance, but also with the original engine sound and the true-to-life shiftable 5-speed gearbox. All parts of the BMW R 90 S boxer engine kit move as on the original engine.

Motorcycle icon with air-cooled boxer engine and minimalist-elegant design

The BMW R 90 S came in 1973, as one of the fastest production motorcycles of its time, on the market. With it the Bavarian motorcycle forge asserted itself against the increasing competition of high performance machines from the Asian area. The top model of the "dash six" series developed into a true motorcycle icon in the 1970s, and motorcycle fans worldwide still rave about it today. The gearbox, typical of the /6 range, was a completely new design in the 1970s: with recalculated gear ratios. A newly added pair of gears provided the BMW R 90 S a unique driving experience. With a top speed of 200 km/h at 67 hp, even sporty drivers felt the ultimate kick. BMW also ensured a smoother, longer-lasting ride through optimizations in crankshaft balancing and sealing.

The machine with the unusual design was created by German designer Hans A. Muth designed. In 1973 it was presented for the first time in the color silver smoke. In 1975, the BMW R 90 S was also available in the famous Daytona Orange color variant. In 1976, the BMW R 90 S brought victory over the prestigious 200 miles at Daytona. The R 90 S also celebrated success in numerous other races.

Motor happiness with motorcycle history

The model kit of the motorcycle engine from the FRANZIS publishing house is supplied together with a high-quality manual. This takes classic car fans into the world of BMW motorcycles and gives them an insight into the success story of the Bavarian Motor Works, which has lasted for almost 100 years. It scores with detailed and expressive pictures and graphics as well as accompanying information, among others on the /5, /6 and /7 series.

In the back of the manual, amateur engineers will find detailed assembly instructions. 83 individual steps describe in detail how to assemble the 200 individual parts into a transparent, high-quality functional model. The handbook is written in German as well as in English. Is thus an ideal weekend or after-work activity for BMW fans worldwide. The model kit of the BMW R 90 S boxer engine is available at FRANZIS and selected mail order companies at an MSRP of 199.00 Euro.
